The Great Resignation – podcast on Break It Down show

Lisa Jackson riffs on workplace revolution – with Pete A. Turner on the Break It Down Show.

ANYONE seeking to grow and thrive in a business that relies on hiring people – THIS IS REAL.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 4 million Americans quit their jobs in July 2021. Resignations peaked in April and have remained abnormally high for the last several months, with a record-breaking 10.9 million open jobs at the end of July.

More concerning, this is a MOVEMENT – over 1/2 of people surveyed say the are currently – or plan to – look for a new job.

Retaining great people is crucial to innovation, teamwork, and ultimately, to company growth. But gone are the “glory days” when employers believed “you should feel lucky to have a job here.”

Massive shortages are real across many industries: Healthcare burnout grows.

Restaurant work is notorious for “terrible hours, bad bosses, too hard.”

Technology has a shortage of trained people, and

PEOPLE in general are fed up with bad working rules, conditions, politics.

Time for a reboot of “Work” !!!  What work means, looks like, and above all else – how and where it’s done.

Employers need to create environments in which people thrive, appreciation is a leader’s job description, and reciprocity (between employees and employers) is a MEANINGFUL two-way street.

Hail to the death of the Dilbert corporate culture!!
